Electricity: 230 V, 60 HZ
Credit Cards: Credit cards are widely accepted, but please confirm before you purchase.
ATMs: ATMs are widely available in most of the common city locations.
Banking: Usual banking hours are from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm in weekdays. But some banks
offer weekend banking facilities. Many foreign banks have their branches in Vancouver.
Banks ATMs are operation in 24 hours. Most of a banks accepts traveler cheques at a small charge.
Currency: Canadian Dollar is the official currency, but some shops accepts US Dollars. There are
number of currency exchangers located in the city.
Smoking: Smoking is prohibited in public places and transport system. There are separated
smoking areas available in most of the restaurants.
Tipping: You are expected to pay around 15% ( some times more) tips in restaurants. Some places
have jars of tip. Hotel staff such as porters, housekeepers accepts tips. This is same with
Taxi drivers.
Custom Rules: When you are landing to Canada, you need to declare all the items other than cloths and personal items.
You need to fill the custom sheet with your passport details.

Tax Refunds:
Non Canadian Resident Visitors can claim their tax refunds. This includes GST and HST. You need to carry the
original receipts and accumulated bills total needs to exceeds 200 Canadian Dollars. Each bill need to be more than 50 Canadian Dollars. Above figures has to be before tax amount. Goods have to move out of Canada within 60
days from the purchasing date.
